As we do each new set of Black Belt and Jr Black Belt Tests I get the chance to refine and improve what we do and how we do it to make it work better. One of the challenges we've come across is that not everyone develops at the same rate.
Some students are more physically talented and others have great focus. Some take a little longer to mature emotionally and some are pretty little to begin with. These differences have been handled well in our first three years. So well in fact we hardly notice them until you start your Black Belt Prep Cycle. At that transition some students really struggle.
Of course it's supposed to be a challenge ... but for some students it may be a bit more than they are ready for.
The solution I have in mind is to add a few belts in the Green / Blue / Purple range ... to give everyone a little more time to get ready for their Black Belt Prep Cycle.
It won't hurt those who would've handled Black Belt Prep well in the first place (They'll just be that much more solid for Black Belt and Beyond) and it'll give younger and older and those who just need the time a better opportunity to take on the Black Belt Prep Challenge with confidence.
Of course I appreciate your thoughts ..
I wish for you all that you wish for yourself.
