August Newsletter "Coach's Corner"

August 24th is the first day of school this year. It seems to come so fast. Back to school is a busy time for all of us. The discipline and character we have developed and displayed this summer will serve us well as we prepare for and return to school. This time of year reminds me how valuable SMA is as an ongoing positive influence in a youngsters development. SMA doesn't come and go with the seasons. We're always here.
Parents have the task of getting everything together so their kids can return to school with the supplies and paperwork they need, in order. It does feel good to know you're doing something important and valuable for your kids, be it at school, home or SMA. The return of school also means the return of routine. We don't have the hectic " What can we do?" question to answer as often.
Of course "back to school" can be stressful and exciting for children. New classmates, teachers and situations can be intimidating. Take that "can do" attitude with you to school. The focus and maturity you gain everyday will show, when you perform well at school.
On my end "back to school" means an influx of new students and parents seeking to gain what we have to offer. More students make more and better programs available. Like school, S4MA can be a hard thing to start. Please do your best to help new team members feel comfortable, and begin to enjoy the benefits of martial arts.
“Back to school" means new friends and classmates. Do a friend a favor; bring 'em to class. It gives you a chance to show folks what you have learned; helps provide training partners, and can be more convenient for parents to "car pool".
I have the highest expectations for each of you. Maintain 100% attendance and focus to take advantage of all that is offered to you.
